The Jack & Jill competitions allow you as an individual to register without a partner, but don't worry, you will be assigned a partner on the competition floor. There will be several partner changes during the preliminary and semifinal rounds conducted by the MC. As a competitor, you are scored individually on various components of the dance, such as:
Those scoring the highest will be called back later to dance in a final round where they will be teamed up with a partner for the final. In the finals, you are scored as a couple.
Jack & Jill competitions are designed to demonstrate skills in improvised West Coast Swing dancing with a variety of partners. Remember the saying; "West Coast Swing is a social dance that you can compete in".
Competitors may compete in a maximum of two skill levels, one as a leader and one as a follower.
WSDC points will be granted based on the number of competitors in each division. You can compete in either role. However, to be able to compete in both roles, you need to compete in different divisions.
*Petitions - A petition process for competitors who wish to dance in a different skill division is available.
a. Petitions can be submitted for one skill level up or one skill level down only. Competitors may submit petitions for their primary or secondary role
